WEEK 10 2nd JUNE 2012
Week 10 started off slow . the carp were feeding on the roach fry in the margins and the egg's from from spawning. I haven't spent as much time out in the boat for a long time un-snagging the anglers most of them getting snagged on the retrive''I think they need weetabix for breakfast''.
Guys this is a 450+year old lake and there are plenty of twigs and roots to snagg against. So pump them leads up and wind fast. Back leads only make things worst, in my opinion most anglers only use back leads because when they are playing a fish they don't tangle there other lines, In 61 I've named a snagg after John it's called JJ's, as he lost 4 fish in the snagg and then dropped 8 so that's a total of 12 fish lost in a week, ''talk about a bad session'' better luck next time John.
The weather had been unsettled with showers and sunny spells, temperatures during the day was 17 to 22, and at night 10 to 11. The water temperature was 25 at the top and 24 at the bottom.
Top Rod was Barry with 22 fish from the Lodge, he had 3 forties to 47-04 and dropped only 4 fish. One he lost in the pads, Barry said he didn't lose the fish I did, as I went out in the boat and lost it for him (LOL), I saw the fish it was a fish called hook it last came out in September 2011 at 56-04 I had got it out of the pads and just as I was about to let go of the line it broke and the fish just quickly rolled and sunk back into the pads.
Biggest fish came to Steve in the ''Point'' a stunning 49-06 mirror Steve broke his PB twice this week he went home very happy and can't wait to come back! All anglers took fish bar one, but Lee did have 3 takes and dropped all 3, better luck next time Lee. Two of the anglers brought there girlfriends and they had a great time on M2. Ricky had his PB and Billy equalled his .We had 5 PB's this week and had a total of 57 fish, the average this week was 29-12 as we had a couple of stockies, we had 27 dropped and 6 lost lost in the snaggs, come on boy's 33 lost fish not a good average. Some lakes don't even catch 33 fish in a week.
Biggest fish came on double 20mm Bossard special and most of the fish came on double baits. Fresh bait seems to be taking more fish so re-bait first light. Most of the fish this week were empty after spawning so they were down in weight but I'm sure they will pack it back on very quickly once they get back on the bait and hopefully a bit more.
I like to thank everybody this week for another great weeks fishing and social and we are looking forward to when you come back next year!
This week was the most dropped fish we have had this year, so come Boy's I think maybe you should use some sharp hooks or take them stupid green protectors off.
Just a note on the BOSSARD-SONIK MASTERS there are a few places left, so if you are thinking of taking part don't leave it to long. The BOSSARD-SONIK MASTERS we be the one to fish each year with even bigger prize fund each year. 2013 it we be held again at BOSSARD and in 2014 I will move it to my new lake a 220 acre where it will become a double competition.
Last week I took egg's out of Bossard from the carp spawning and this week they have hatched and are doing very well, Sandy doesnt' see much of me at the moment as I'm busy with our baby monsters we had 60,000 delivered this week and 5,000 koi and are all doing well. I have now finished putting the path around the new lake and will be draining down this winter to see how big the largest carp is and I'm hoping it will be a monster!
Also our new addition to our staff has arrived, Bailey own new puppy.
Tight lines Steve
