WEEK 1 30-03-2013 TO 06-04-2013

08/04/2013

It was nice to see anglers again after a long cold winter, and see bivvies back in the swims. The weather was not looking good for the week with temperatures well down for the start of April, it could have been worse it could have snowed.Last year it was sunny and 22. Once  the anglers had picked their swims, Paul my new bailiff and I started to sort the guy's bait and walkie talkie's and make sure all the anglers were happy in their swims, with some goods spots to fish too. Well there's not alot to say about the fishing as the days just rolled by getting colder each day, and no fish being caught. It wasn't till Wednesday when we had  our first fish a mid 20lb common, small by Bossard Standards, but most welcome with the conditions so cold. The NE wind just kept on blowing and made things feel even colder. The days were bright which kept the guy's hopes up for a  few fish. Yurau was tying up some rigs and testing his knots when one of his Korda swivels just pulled apart. Just show how crap Korda swivels are!(LOL). Guy's please check your knot's it could cost you your fish of a life time. Thursday and the temperatures had now improved , not much, but hopes were high for a few fish. Friday morning some of the guy's decided to go home as they were so cold , I told them they were making a mistake as the weather was still improving. But  they decided to go . You guest it I was right, in the last  few hours we had 6 fish. Mark started the ball rolling in Banzais with a 34lb mirror, then the boys on M2 had seen fish in front of R1 and R2 and decided to move. Then Mark was in again in Banzais but dropped it at the net. 30 mins later Mark had a mid 20lb mirror, then nick on 61 had a big scaled mirror at 29.12lb. then Roy in R1 had a upper 20lb mirror. Then Mark was in again with a 39lb mirror on Banzais, Roy finished the week with his pb a cracking 44lb mirror with a mouth like Dartford tunnel in R1.

Just like to thank one of the guy's in tight squeeze for shitting in the back of the swim and leaving their dirty toilet paper, and one of the guy's for leaving loads of marlborough light dog ends in their swim. I hope you treat the next lake better than you did here as you wont' be coming back here!!

We had 7 fish with a average of 31-08lb and 1 dropped not bad as I thought we were going to blank as the weather was so cold. It went down to -7. Lets hope next weeks weather and fishing improves. I like to thank the rest of the guy's for a great week and look forward to seeing you next year.

Tight Lines

Steve
