STEVE'S 48HR SESSION "UP AGAINST IT" 20-11-2013 TO 22-11-2013

The anglers have been gone for a few weeks now and I'm ready missing them. i had seen a few carp showing mid water in front of the Boathouse and in the snags at the back of 61. So I decided to put some bait out where I had seen the carp showing on monday morning, I could not fish until Wednesday as i was very busy netting my other lakes. I kept the bait going in very small amounts regular as i could in between my nettings and Wednesday couldn't com quick enough. Wednesday morning I was up at 6-30am and raring to get going. I tied some new rigs up Tuesday night in the house where it was nice and warm. I was going to be using the new hooks from Ace. I just can't tell you how sharp and strong these hooks are. i have been using these hooks for nearly 2 years now, before they were released. and I haven't dropped a fish . As a Jeweller I am very fussy about my hooks. these are definitely the best hooks i have ever used. My rigs for this session are ''hooks'' Ace short curve shank size 4's , Ace kickers line aligner and my hook link Ace camo core silt, I love using camo core as when you strip the outer coating the inner is still camo, not like most hook links, just one colour!, my hook links were 10'' long an 2'' haris and of course 10oz leads in the snags. Two of my rods were going to be in the snags and one in open water. Alot more carp have come from open water this season, but I do like my snag fishing and I felt confedent of taking a fish out of the snags. I would only be fishing two baits stringers and just a small amount of pellet over my hook baits. I didn't want to over feed the swim as I only. had 48hrs to fish. My first fish came at 10-30am on thursday mornig from the snags a 46-02lb mirror and there was no more action the rest of the day I felt that with the water temp well down and the air temp at 0 at night the action would be between 10-3pm during the day if at all. I keeped the pellet going in every 2-3 hours in very small amounts with a spomb and felt I still could take one more fish if I stayed on my game. I re- baited about 4pm and again only 2 bait stringers the traps were set it was up to the carp now. Friday night the tempture went down to -2 and I was now up against it. But like I always tell my anglers if your baits are in the water you always have a chance. It was now 11am and I really thought I had missed my chance as I had to go and deliver some fish and I should have packed up a hour ago, just as I was about to reel in my rods I had a drop back on my left hand rod from open water. As I picked up my rod I thought I had been cut of by a pike as there was just loads of slack line, then just as I was thinking to myself B------ the line tighten up and the rod bent over and I was into what ended up to be my 57th 50 a cracking 54-06lb mirror what a end to a cracking 48 hour session.
